This update recognizes some important changes in the latest amendment to the CSA C22.3 No. 1 Overhead Systems Standard.
The most significant change is the mandatory consideration for an Extreme Wind event, in addition to the normal deterministic weather load case, such as CSA Heavy.
To support this, Quick Pole will highlight an error for every structure in a project unless an extreme wind load case is defined in the Project Settings. In addition, for all weather load cases with wind loads (except the deterministic one) will need to include a height adjustment factor for all attachments higher than 10 meters.
The CSA standard specifically wants a wind speed that is estimated to be the worst 10 minute average value that should occur every 50 years (50 year return period). To assist with this, the new CSA standard has tables for many cities in Canada.
