This update includes the ability to import *.spp files from manufacturers that contain steel pole details. Steel poles, like composite poles, can be made up of several different modules assembled together with some overlap. These steel pole files can be found on manufacturer sites and various other places.
In a previous update, a steel pole database was made available on our website for IUSI poles; a company that went out of business around 2004. Many poles exist in the field however, which is why customers have been requesting a database suitable for Quick Pole.
For this update, a unique database has been created and made available on our website for steel poles made by Valmont and sold in Canada. These poles have different specifications than those otherwise available for import as *.spp files on the Internet. Sonideft spent extra effort to build a database to support the Canadian base of users using these poles in their Designs.
In an unrelated area of the software, there has been a change to how wires/cables using the "% sag" definition for stringing conditions. An adjustment was made to ensure that elevation differences along the span are not factored into this stringing tension. This matches better, for example, with the 1% sag commonly recommended by manufacturers of ADSS cables.
