New Quick Pole Licensing

Unread postby Sonideft » Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:26 am

As you probably know, Sonideft is moving to a different licensing arrangement for Quick Pole. You should have received an email by now that will allow you to manage licenses via our web portal.

For current users, you should get them to install the software from our website, which is the version that supports this new licensing arrangement.

Full instructions for you can be found here: https://sonideft.com/help/html/Licensing.html

It is important to note that our current license server will be retired at the end of this year, so it is important to migrate users beforehand so that their use of Quick Pole would not be interrupted.

Most notable changes in this new series:
1. Updated to use the most recent version of the Application Framework that Quick Pole is built upon – NetBeans 19
2. Updated to use Java21, which is an OpenJDK version. Not only does this provide further options for multithreading/multiprocessing, it also removes the potential licensing issue around Oracle’s Java8 version used today
3. Built-in support for high definition displays. For a few customers we had a work around in the older version.
4. A few small bug fixes and an enhanced KML export (more audit fields available)
5. A replaced Licensing system, as noted in the introduction.

Some of the things we are working on right now that will ONLY go onto the new version are:
1. French language support
2. Additional pole types (FRP…)
3. Pole/Pole line framing features
4. Support for proposed 2025 CSA standard changes for multi-pole analysis
5. …
