Linear Analysis now offered

Unread postby Sonideft » Sun Dec 08, 2013 7:28 pm

Quick Pole has always been a Structural Analysis Tool that has used the Nonlinear Analysis methodology, for optimum results.

In Canada, nonlinear analysis is an option that enables lower Overload or Safety factors to be used, as opposed to Linear analysis. However, both are currently supported in the CSA Standards at this time. It is expected that the CSA Standards will no longer permit the use of Linear Analysis when the next release is published; expected in 1st Qtr 2015.

In the USA, there is little support in the NESC for the Nonlinear methodology right now. This means that customers in the USA need to be able to use Quick Pole using the Linear analysis. It is possible that other countries may also use the Linear analysis method.

As of the latest update, Quick Pole now allows users to select the method they wish to use (Linear or Nonlinear) from the Project Settings tab. This setting is stored in the project file so that it will be retained on re-opening. A note is placed in the analysis message log to indicate that this choice has been made.
