QP Update 7.02.01 - Spaced Aerial Cables

Unread postby Sonideft » Wed Jan 03, 2024 3:34 pm

This update includes the ability to model several wire/messenger/conductors in advanced configurations, much like PLS-CADD.
While some configurations are not common in Distribution Lines, the one that is appearing more often these days is Spaced Aerial Cable Systems, primarily being supplied by Hendrix.

A side benefit to this update, that can benefit those importing data via IKE/JSON, csv or SQLite formats, is the ability to define an integrated messenger and cable combination. This allows you to import all your field data assuming the worst communications wire/cable combination you can expect. If after your first project analysis you find areas that are experiencing difficulty, you can detail them more exactly to what is present in the field. This should be a BIG time saver!

Another common scenario is where you place a communications Figure 8 cable and then lash other cables to it. This is a trick that many providers have used to save on project costs (where suitable messengers/strands do not already exist). Quick Pole now handles that even better than before.

Specifically, the following wire configurations are now supported:
1) Single wire (as before) Lash cables to it if you wish.
2) Two horizontal conductors
3) Two Vertical conductors
4) Three conductors in a Triangle configuration
5) Four conductors in a Square configuration
6) Four conductors in a Diamond configuration
7) Six conductors in a Hexagon configuration
8) Eight conductors in a Square configuration
9) Two conductors twisted amongst themselves
10) Spaced Aerial Cable Systems (one messenger, three spaced cables)
11) Figure 8 wire/cables
12) Single wire with a defined integrated cable
