Slack Span Support added to Quick Pole

Unread postby Sonideft » Mon Dec 03, 2012 9:20 pm

Full support to install Power Wires and Communication messengers to either an Organization's standards, or custom values that can be have more tensions for special applications or "Slack" for cases where guying, anchoring and/or the poles cannot fully support full tensions. While some other comparable programs allow you to de-rate by a fraction the full tension that exists in a wire or self-supporting cable, this is not very intuitive. How can you be sure that what is in the field or about to be installed will only have 25% of the maximum storm loaded tension on it as a worst case scenario; as an example. You can't unless you can relate this 25% somehow to a value you can measure in the field. Quick Pole has an advantage over these other programs in that all tensions entered can be related to values you can measure in the field. Based on the tension values entered, Quick Pole will compute the appropriate maximum tension and sag values.

This capability was available in the Sags and Tensions Calculator previously. This capability is now available within projects and for any individual wire, messenger or self-supporting cable. For communication messengers you have the choice of setting the exact installation tension before cables are attached or afterwards for re-tensioning applications. The appropriate notices of the tensions set are available in the Analysis viewer and the Reports.
