Assumed Wind Angle Improvements

Unread postby Sonideft » Fri Jun 17, 2011 10:12 am

Quick Pole has an updated algorithm that better assesses, on a per pole basis, what the worst angle for wind to be blowing in order to have the maximum impact on the pole. When this is determined, it also looks at the attachment loads on the pole to see if these two angles are within 180 degrees of each other. When they are, wind impacts the pole in the same general direction as attachment loads; making their loads combine for maximum impact on the pole. If they are more than 180 degrees out of sync, the wind angle is adjusted 180 degrees. This wind angle is now taken into account for wind loads on the pole itself as well.

In addition, some improvements were made to the way multiple datasets of wires/cables/etc were made available. Some users found it a little confusing, so we adjusted the User Interface to only present these details when required. Defaults on which datasets to use in different situations is available through the Options menu.
