In the area of calculating the amount of ice loading around a Communications Messenger (Strand) and a bundle of cables, Quick Pole has been updated to include several enhancements. First, the calculations for the size of the cable bundle have been updated to align with other programs such as SAG10, PLS Pole and SpanMaster. This calculation is also displayed visually, including the ice thickness, around the messenger and each individual cable. In addition to this display there is a side-by-side feature where you can manually move each cable around the bundle yourself to see if you can get a better representation of the true bundle diameter. The algorithm used is very good, but you also have the choice of entering your own value for cable bundle diameter. All calculations for sags and tensions will use either the computed or a manually input bundle diameter; your choice. These features are available in the Communications Sag Tool right now and will also appear as Tension Edit options in the Project Plan view soon.
