This version includes support for new Design-wide Strength reduction Factors for Structures, Guys, Anchors and Soil. Soil strength messages have also been improved.
The new Design-wide strength reduction factors are multipliers that can be added to any Design that work with the strength factors that come from the Line Grade setting (CSA,NESC,GO95). You can find these new setting in the Analysis Settings tab under Design Settings. In the messages output window, both the Line Grade strength settings and any Design-wide additional strength settings set, will be listed.
These new strength settings can assist users in two common tasks:
1) Meeting a Pole Owner's requirement for limiting the amount of strength used for Structures, Guys, Anchors and/or Soil. For instance, if you wish to limit the worst load condition on a guy wire to 70% Rated Tensile Strength, you can adjust the Design-wide guy strength reduction factor until the multiplication of the Line Grade guy strength factor and the Design-wide guy strength factor equal or are less than 0.70
2) End of life studies. If you adjust the Design-wide structure strength reduction factor until the multiplication of the Line Grade structure strength factor and the Design-wide structure strength factor equal or are less than 0.60; or 60% which is common for most code requirements.
The reason these new strength settings are not simply an over-ride of the Line Grade values is that Designs can support more than one structure with a different Line Grade. This makes these work as additional factors to be applied to all items within a Design.
